HIGH SCHOOL ALL STARS ART EXHIBITION

ARTWORK FROM SARATOGA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

January 7 – January 28, 2011

OPENING RECEPTION: January 7, 3-5pm

Saratoga Arts is pleased to announce that its eighth annual High School All Stars Art Exhibition will be on view in The Arts Center Gallery from January 7 through January 28.

High school art teachers throughout Saratoga County, including Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Saratoga Springs, Shenendehowa, South Glens Falls, The Waldorf School and WSWHE Boces selected work in all media from their strongest students to exhibit in The Arts Center Gallery. From sculpture to drawing, these wonderful artworks highlight the dedication of area art teachers together with the amazing talent of their art students.

By encouraging younger generations of Saratoga County’s artists to excel in their creative work, Saratoga Arts fulfills its mission of cultivating, nourishing and sustaining the arts in all of its forms.

This year's exhibit is co-curated by Erica Wardell. Wardell is a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and an All Star Show Alumna. Wardell is currently working towards a BFA in Studio Art, with a focus in painting and sculpture, and a minor in Education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.

Bus Trip to Philadelphia

Flower Show and Van Gogh
at Philadelphia Museum of Art

Saratoga Arts will be taking a group to Philadelpha this March for a weekend of art and floral wonder. The group will visit Van Gogh Up Close, a blockbuster exhibit of some 40 masterpieces that explores the reasons and means by which this impassioned artist made unusual changes to his painting style in the final years of his life.

This year’s Flower Show, Hawaii: Islands of Aloha!, will welcome guests with waves of orchids arching over the entrance, a rainbow of plants, and a blend of digital effects and fantastic plants that recreate Hawaii’s landscapes. Gardeners will be inspired by 10 acres of exhibits, an interactive design studio, and a full program of workshops and presentations.
Sunday night the group will stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Center City located across the street from the flower show and enjoy a full American breakfast buffet Monday morning.

The trip package price is $377 per person based on double occupancy and includes transportation, overnight accommodation, full breakfast, entrance fees to the museum and the Philadelphia Flower Show, and a tax-deductible donation to Saratoga Arts.

The bus will depart early on Sunday, March 4 with pickups in Saratoga Springs and the Crossgates Mall and will return approximately 10:00 pm on Monday night. Please sign up early as trips in the past have sold out.
