If you're not reading Steve Barnes' Times Union Table Hopping blog, then you're missing out. He has a lot of entries focusing on Saratoga area restaurants and other interesting pieces about capital region eateries. One of his latest posts is an entry about the long awaited pizzeria on Broadway and, more interestingly, about the recent opening of Spa City Cupcakes up the streeet from there. Often, as in the case of this referenced entry, the comments on that blog are just as interesting as the original entry.
We have a store for just doggie treats, a store for just cupcakes, this store, that store. OK, it's a bit much, but don't think I won't be checking out that cupcake store sometime soon.
Cupcakes ... but how much, darnit? Neither their website nor their display board in the shop itself list any prices. I don't buy anything unless I can see a price first.

Hi Dan,
Guess who's email got Steve to write about the cupcakes and pizza?
That's right! Me!
Haven't checked out either place yet.
Trying to go low/no carb and those goodies would throw me off.
Let me know what you think, when you go.

Hey! Went to Spa City Cupcakes tonight; I'm not sure if it's open for business yet. At least I couldn't tell by licking the gates. We did go to Eugenio's Gelato Cafe on Broadway. I'm so partial to Villa Italia's gelato in Schenectady that I snub other places, but the gelato was awesome and the piece of it's-so-big-it-has-its-own-zip-code pistachio cake that I ate was even better. I'm ready to get a license plate that says 'Happiness is green frosting.' Highly recommended. That was after I ate chicken, ribs, cornbread and coleslaw at PJs. I'm really super excited to go to bed now and wake up tomorrow unable to fit into any of my jeans. Happy eating.
PS I read something (probably on Steve Barnes' blog) that said the cupcakes were about $3.25 each.
