I love the Fasig-Tipton thoroughbred auctions, and I see in the press release below that the company will now hold a fall sale here in Saratoga Springs in addition to their two August sales. Press Release follows:
Fasig-Tipton adds Fall Sale in Saratoga to its 2012 schedule.
In response to the fast-expanding Thoroughbred population in New York, Fasig-Tipton will hold a Fall Mixed and Horses of Racing Age Sale at its Saratoga facility on Tuesday, October 9. Entries for the sale will close on August 3.
“All through the spring and early summer, our feedback from several clients in New York State led us to the decision to add this sale to our schedule,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning. “We have an opportune date, there is a real up-tick in the quality and quantity of the product there and we have one of the best sales facilities in the world in which to stage the sale,” he added.
Part of the single-session sale will be devoted to horses of racing age. There are many operations in the north-east which stable and train through October at Saratoga’s Oklahoma training facility, a neighbor there of Fasig-Tipton’s sales complex.
“This sale date makes it ideal for weanlings, in-foal mares and breeding prospects,” noted Browning. “It also comes at a time when many major racing operations are making transitions to racing in Florida, the West Coast and, of course, to the very attractive winter racing dates at Aqueduct. “Our long-time employee and account executive Peter Penny is now a Saratoga resident for the summer and fall and will co-ordinate our sales recruitment from his office there. We are very excited about the opportunities this sale will bring to a broad spectrum of sellers and buyers.”
