| Bongs, bowls, busted bars, burgers, and buns (hot dog) on Caroline Street »
- I went down Caroline Street today and saw the expanded digs of Esperanto, as well as the new Hot Dog Charlie's. It was too early for me to try a hot dog or anything else at the new eatery
but here is a rather interesting, albeit not necessarily appetizing, take on Hot Dog Charlies. The new Esperanto space allows enough room for maybe 6 or 7 tables, which of course is much more than they had before. You can read more about that expansion here on the Saratogian's In the Biz blog.
- I had business at City Hall yesterday so on my way back I stopped at Spa City Cupcakes and got one of their chocolate with peanut butter frosting offerings. It was good (what peanut butter product isn't?)
but not necessarily enough to make me go out of my way to spend somewhere around $2.50 to get one. With that being said, Spa City Cupcakes gets credit for sticking around more than a year and even moving into a larger space in the Downstreet Marketplace Shops on Broadway (which is apparently still for sale). Spa City Cupcakes has a Facebook page, however that hasn't been updated since May and their web site has been "under construction" for all that time as well. They need to take some time to update both sites.
- The T-U's Table Hopping blog is reporting about two Saratoga Restaurants' expansions into Clifton Park. Wheatfield's will be opening it's second location down in CP in October, and Chianti and Forno Bistro owner David Zecchini has announced plans to open in that southern Saratoga County town late this year or early next year.
- It says here that Max London's has the best wood-fired pizza in Saratoga. Well, at least let me say the pizza I had there last night, with bacon (like my aforementioned peanut butter comment, what doesn't taste great with bacon?) and goat cheese (what doesn't...?) was the best I ever had. It came out piping hot, and the salad I shared with my girlfriend, with greens, apples, and an assortment of nuts, was fantastic as well.
- I had another great dinner with friends at The Springwater Inn. As I mentioned in my previous post on this beautiful Union Avenue dining spot, the food and service are fantastic and the prices are more than reasonable. Definitely one of my Saratoga Springs favorites.
