Gas buddy, Fun Saratoga style. If you live in or travel through the west side of Saratoga Springs, you can save as much as 12 cents a gallon off of your gas by going to the Cumberland Farms at the corner of Geyser Road and Rowland Street out near the Airport.
This location is just 2.4 miles west of the intersection of Geyser Road and Route 50, so it's not that far for many Saratogians. The price per gallon when I went there last week was $2.69 per gallon.
Suffice to say that the folks over at Stewart's probably aren't too happy with the owners of that Cumberland Farms. You will notice in the background of the picture that the Stewart's across the street has essentially been forced to match the $2.69 price per gallon of their neighbors. Price per gallon at the downtown Saratoga Springs Stewart's? $2.81.
Sure, some of that higher price at the downtown location reflects the cost of the property, including Saratoga Springs city property taxes. Some of that price difference, however, is simply a result of the Milton Stewart's location having lower price competition right across the street, and the city location not having any comparable competition. I like Stewart's and I think they are a good corporate citizen, but at the end of the day their goal is to make a (larger) profit and I appreciate the fact that there are a few places like Cumberland Farms that are offering enough competition to limit how much of my money other businesses can take.
But Stewart's is Sunoco, which gives the Price Chopper discount. Last fill-up was 80 cents off per gallon! (The one before that was in NJ: $2.45 Full Serve).

Hmmm good point, but what about your next fill up, when you won't have too much on your Price Chopper discount? Nonetheless that does change the playing field, at least for some people.

I don't drive much, so I usually save at least 40cents or so--or will as long as this PC propmo continues!
