Well One Caroline is under-appreciated at least by me, and I bet at least a few others of you out there in the area. The reason I say this is because Margarita and I stopped in there Sunday night for a cordial after our dinner at 8 Tables. I knew I would find some good jazz, but we really enjoyed pianist Nat Phipps and his bassist Pete Toigo.

We had a chance to chat with Mr. Phipps during his break and discussed our upcoming wedding and the possibility of hiring him to provide music during the cocktail and dinner hour. He's not only a great musician providing fantastic jazz music, but he's a wonderful gentleman to talk to and very professional in his business dealings. I have found that many great musicians are, shall we say, lacking when it comes to communications and business dealings. As I am writing this I am listening to the CD he just sent me in the mail (good marketing!) and his smooth and upbeat music is putting me in a great mood.

That enjoyable music, performed live, is why I say One Caroline is under-appreciated. Why don't I get there more often, and why isn't the place packed every night? Where in America can you safely walk from your home to experience dozens of great restaurants and bars - some of which like One Caroline are offering tremendous live music? Those places are few and far between and they certainly aren't in suburbia. Saratoga Springs is not perfect, but it is wonderful and we should appreciate what we have. Get to One Caroline soon and have a great night on the town.
