hi, I met norberto arroyo jr. at the track thru common friends,
and was very impressed in what an excellent human been he is,
also let us not forget his father & cousin enrique arroyo whom
supported & will continue to the rest of their lives, his abilities to ride are as good or better as any present or past jockeys! we will surely missed him at the track, this person
deserves a third chance!! to put him behind prison what good
will it do, there has to be a better alternative, sincerely yours,Vic2455 brooklyn, ny 4-6-2010

This guy was and still is a strong stand up guy. He didn't rat on anyone and he was en route to the Track with the drugs. I wonder which one of his jock room friends had placed an order. does anyone know if he will be deported? Stay strong and never ever SNITCH!!! www.1thru99.com

In reply to 1thru99com: I know Norberto on a personal level...well, I did at one point. You are right, he is strong, stand-up guy and definitely not a snitch. Whether the drugs were for him to sell, or for racetrack friends....I would believe either scenario. As far as him being deported...it can not happen!! HE IS PUERTO RICAN...PUERTO RICANS ARE US CITIZENS!!! That would be like trying to deport someone who was born and raised in Kentucky! Deportation is not something that he has to worry about.

Norberto Arroyo is not a bad guy. He is a typical, young, ambitious, talented jockey. He is also, by far, not unique in getting in to trouble with drugs. Jockeys face stress constantly: their weight, the dangers of riding, if they are on a losing streak no trainers will give them mounts.

I'm attaching an ABC News/ESPN article, which can make the points I want to make, but in a more articulate manner.

After reading the above article, I hope you can offer more compassion to those top jockeys who risk their lives every day so we can enjoy the races.

i personally do not try to tie myself in the off track happenings that much other than this story... WHY?... because Norberto Arroyo Jr. i've been a fan of since his apprentice days...very few riders come in as apprentices and make an impression on me the way he did...i wish he'd be given another chance to make things happen again...why not hes at the point where its now or never for him and i think he knows it... and furthermore during his last come back he certainly look better than he was before and he wasnt too bad then
