I was glad to see the Times-Union write this article on Saratoga's dangerous roadways. The article references the awful death of 80 year old Ben Hilbert, who was struck by a car as he crossed RT 50 last summer in front of PJ's Barbecue. I had the unfortunate experience to be at PJ's that night and whenI ran out in an attempt to help, I could only see a car stopped with Mr. Hilbert's body apparently trapped underneath. It was a terrible experience, and it seems like there are too many pedestrian and bicycle deaths on RT 50 and in my opinion, New York State DOT is dropping the ball on the issue. I hope this article prods them into action.
