What the hell's a one sheet, you ask, and what is Virgin Alexander?
Let's face it, I'm smarter than you, so I'll tell you what a one sheet is. Actually, I'm not smarter than you, and I didn't know what a one sheet was either, so I went to Wikipedia, which is accurate often enough to be my go-to choice for finding out things I don't know. According to Wikipedia, "In the entertainment industry, a one-sheet or one sheet is a single document that summarizes a product for publicity and sales. A one sheet is a specific size (typically 27" x 41" in size before 1985; 27" x 40" in size after 1985) of film poster advertising."
Now that you know not only what a one sheet is, but, so importantly, what it was before 1985, you may ask "what is 'Virgin Alexander'"? Man, this Funsaratoga blog is one informative little time waster, isn't it? "Virgin Alexander" is to Saratoga in 2011 what "The Skeptic" was to our city in 2008; namely it is a low budget independent movie filmed right here in the Saratoga Springs, NY.
This Saratogian article from last June should give you a primer on the movie. The abridged version is "Virgin Alexander" is a movie written and directed by Saratoga Springs native Sean Fallon and his wife Charlotte Barrett and is about a young garbageman (played by Bronson Pinchot) who gets wierded out while staying at the Batcheller Mansion dreams of being a concert pianist and somehow gets involved with a prostitute played by Paige Howard. Whereas "The Skeptic" was shelved for a couple of years and certainly wasn't a great movie, I thought it was at least decent and deserved credit for being an honest attempt at being an intelligent movie. The long and short of it is "The Skeptic" never got that credit and it went nowhere in a hurry, even after costar Zoe Saldana scored a starring role in the James Cameron blockbuster Avatar.

Virgin Alexander, on the other hand, has at least a shot at a better fate. Why? I mentioned one of the movie's stars was Paige Howard. While she may not be an exotic Calvin Klein underwear model like Ms. Saldana, she probably has something even better going for her. Her name again is Paige "Howard", as in Ron Howard aka Richie Cunningham and also aka (for you TVland fans) Opie Taylor. Yep, Ms. Howard is the daughter of the famous actor and director, so let's hope Daddy can tap into that ol' boy network out in Hollywood and give this movie some traction. Look for a release of "Virgin Alexander" later this year.
