Here we go...
- The Bonacio building at Division and Railroad Place sure has taken shape. It's a behemoth, but a welcome one, at least to me. I am glad to see Price Chopper proudly displaying a sign there that they will be a major tenant. It's all good in my book.
- I see the "Eateries on Henry Street" have teamed up for some joint marketing, at least in the Saratogian. The newspaper has run several full page ads for the effort, namely for Scallions, Virgil's House, and Tiznow, amongst others. Good for them for trying something cooperative.
- Speaking of Virgils House, remember how electronic devices such as laptops and cell phones were disallowed? Well they apparently realized that limiting their clientele to the puzzle/checkers/book reading/actually conversing crowd was limiting their profits, and they sort of gave in to technology. Yep, they changed the policy and you can fire up the I-Pad in there and they won't give you a second look. Heck they even sent a recent tweet that they are considering a vintage video game.
- Sometime when I wasn't looking the laundromat on Phila Street turned into a small silver jewelry shop.
- The Gideon Putnam Hotel recently put out a press release announcing its renovations are complete. I hear they have a good Sunday brunch, but I haven't been there to partake yet.
- Two things that always lift me up in Saratoga Springs are a visit to the Farmers' Market and a visit to the Saratoga Springs Public Library. The Library building is roomy, modern, and comfortable, but what really makes it a gem is their awesome and dedicated staff.

- I guess I wasn't surprised to see the Congress Street Friendly's closed - hell I lived here two years before I even realized it was there. Still I hate to see businesses close and people lose their jobs.
- Speaking of closings, I heard the former Grey Gelding location is stripped down right to the studs on the inside. Let's hope someone fills it soon, although I wouldn't be surprised to see it sit empty for a while. The best thing about The Grey Gelding was the fact that every Saturday the Franklin Micare Duo rocked the house. Rumour has it the talented musicians will start up at Cantina sometime soon.
- Meanwhile over at the Borders location....nothing.
- I see Big Apple Pizza over on Caroline Street now is called Pizza 7. A name change two months into the operation can't be a good thing, right? I Homer Simpson reviewed their pizza a while back here.
- Finally, You Idiot did an entertaining showdown between Bettie's Cupcakes and The Lab (formerly The Cupcake Lab). Spoiler alert: The Lab won.
Have a great week!
