There is a somewhat under-the-radar Saratoga blog focusing on politics and Saratoga Race Course. Tom Noonan has a good perspective on both the racing as well as the business/politics end of things in our little corner of the racing world. You can check out his self-titled blog here.
Hey Dan, unrelated question. I am planning on attending Travers with some friends this year. It's been a long time since I've been for an entire day, do you have any tips? How early does one have to show-up to score a picnic table? I know doors are at 7AM, but do I need to be there at 5AM to lineup? Any helpful hints would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rob:
My bet is 5am will put you back of the line pretty far, so any earlier would be better. Even if you are down the line, I imagine you'll still be in an OK spot if you get there at 5, but I honestly don't know for sure. Do they open earlier on Travers Day? Check the NYRA site to find out. Good luck!
